1Voice Bully Book Club

The Bully Book Club was created to teach and reach the younger friends of our school.  We will be reading books to Kingergarden & First Graders concerning bullying, the effects, & what to do about it.  Teachers can see the list of books here on this page that we have organized and pick a date for their class.  Our 1Voice Leadership Team has been challenged to earn reading stars by first, passing a reading test and also by signing up to read on available days.  Readers must be able to read a book, comprehend it for questioning and discussions.

The purpose of our Bully Book Club is

1) to develop great readers & comprehension, as well as, to reward them for doing so

2) teach our little ones to be more contentious of good behavior and finally

3) creating a better atmosphere among our 5th & 6th Graders in the long run

A Bully-Free Playground

A Bully-Free Bus follows a group of young characters from Niceville Elementary School who bully each other on Bus 21. Young readers will learn about physical and verbal bullying. They will see four examples of bullying and learn how to stand up for themselves and be upstanders for others. They will also learn when to report a situation to an adult and other key advice in order to make a Bully-Free Bus!

The Little Bully

The 3 Bully Goats

When Gruff, Ruff, and Tuff, bully their way across a bridge and into a meadow -- teasing a kind ogre and butting small animals along the way. The ogre, frustrated that being friendly and polite didn't work, hatches a plan to teach the "bully" goats a lesson. This twist on "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" is a great read-aloud (and discussion starter) will have kids laughing in the aisles.

A Bully-Free School
Howard B. Wigglebottom
 Learns about Bullying

Howard the bunny is being bullied at school by the Snorton twins. Even though his intuition tells him to tell the teacher about it, he chooses different strategies. Howard tries ignoring, avoiding, making jokes and getting back at the bullies. Nothing works and things get worse. He finally tells his teacher. She takes action and makes him feel okay and safe. This 32 page illustrated book was created in response to requests by teachers and comes with a lesson and resources to deal with bully issues.
